Capitalizing on a mix of traditional, offset with our digital press and color matching, USC’s engineering school created personalized, perfect-bind books for individual students.
Our work with USC continues and we love it! Our longstanding relationship with the USC Viterbi School of Engineering recently came to a strong collaboration on a very important project that was underscored further by the pandemic.
In a traditional year, we would print the entirety of USC Viterbi’s undergraduate admission print suite. Booklets, mailers, brochures, event materials…. you name it, we have printed it. As the school pivoted their in-person activities to an all virtual environment, we worked closely with them to capitalize their print solutions to strengthen their engagement and relationships with newly admitted students and families. Their USC Viterbi Undergraduate Experience guidebook was a perfect example. This 90-page, perfect bind, catalog-style book needed to make an impact via mail.
By using a combination of our offset and digital presses, we created a “Print-On-Demand” system for their incoming class. In essence, we mass-printed the inside pages and prepared for final assembly as their admission staff finalized the admitted class in rolling waves. As students were admitted, they sent us batches of names with various versions of their cover with variable data for printing. The result was awesome – personalized covers (including inside text and graphics) that made each student feel special.
We finalized the booklet with mailing data, sealed it in a poly bag to protect it via mail, and drop shipped these in waves according to the schedule. We have been told this process resulted in very happy students who felt connected to the university (and as a result, some very happy clients!).
